2019 Scholarship recipient
Dana Lovell is a senior at ELCO High School. She is motivated, empathetic, and caring, and uses her creative talents to improve the world and the lives of those around her. She also makes a constant effort to be kind and to have a positive attitude and an open mind. Dana aspires to be an artist and believes that art holds a lot of power to make a difference, because it can advocate for or against a cause, encourage people to think and see things from different perspectives, and bring more beauty to the world. She uses her artwork to convey important messages and to advocate for causes such as mental health awareness. Dana has been featured in an international arts magazine and the National Art Honor Society online exhibition, and has received an Honorable Mention in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards on two occasions. She is very active in musical and artistic activities at her school, including four honor societies, and plans on attending Brigham Young University for Fine Arts and/or Art Education in the Fall. After college, she would like to become a fine artist and/or an art teacher, so as to be in a position to create art while also being able to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
