Marie will lead students through a guided project working through the process of collage together. Students who are experienced in collage may bring their own plans, choosing the subject matter and proceeding with their project.
For the first project, students will discover an interesting composition for the subject Marie has chosen. They will learn how to design and paint white tissue paper that they will then use as their "paint." Students will be free to choose their colors and use papers supplied. Through this process Marie will discuss composition. The result is that each collage will be personal to the artist. After completing the guided project, students will be able to work on another collage of their choice if time allows.
Materials: Marie will provide: matte medium/modge podge, 11x14 canvas, variety of papers, supplies to color the white tissue papers, white tissue paper and some acrylic paints.
Students provide: papers such as maps, magazines or other paper that interests them, old photos, wrapping paper, feathers, paint that you may want to use and a brush that you can use for the matte medium, a container for water to rinse your brush.
