This 3 week class will focus on color mixing, layering, and feather texture to capture the unique beauty of each song bird. This class is beginner-friendly, but can also accommodate experienced painters as well. The class will be taught using gouache but acrylics are encouraged as well. Each week we will be focusing on creating a different bird, week one a cardinal, week two a chick a dee, and week three a blue bird. Tracing templates will be provided along with 6x8 watercolor, and or canvas paper. This class is not focusing on how to draw a bird, but how to paint one using water media techniques and color mixing. Please read the lists below to know what to bring to each class. Supply List:
Week 1 Cardinal
Paints (gouache or acrylic)
Primary Red, Ultramarine blue, black, primary yellow, burnt umber, titanium white
Brushes
stripe brush 0/10, filbert 4, round 1, and any other small brush you enjoy using.
Other Supplies
Please bring a palette with plenty of mixing room, water cup, paper towels, and washi tape if you prefer. If you want your bird to be on a canvas please bring a 6x8 canvas.
Week 2 Chick A Dee
Paints (gouache or acrylic)
Ocher yellow, ultramarine blue, quinacridone magenta, burnt sienna, black, titanium white
Brushes
stripe brush 0/10, filbert 4, round 1, and any other small brush you enjoy using.
Other Supplies
Please bring a palette with plenty of mixing room, water cup, paper towels, and washi tape if you prefer. If you want your bird to be on a canvas please bring a 6x8 canvas.
Week 3 Bluebird
Paints (gouache or acrylic)
Cerulean blue, quinacridone magenta, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, burnt sienna, black, titanium white
Brushes
stripe brush 0/10, filbert 4, round 1, and any other small brush you enjoy using.

Don’t worry if you forget something, some supplies will be on hand just in case.
